A Sense of Proportion, Balance & Minimalist Elegance

Sustainable City, Sharjah – UAE

A sense of proportion, balance and minimalist elegance shaped this home styling project in Sustainable City, Sharjah. Rather than starting with an entirely new collection of furnishings, the design evolved around the client’s existing pieces as they moved from one villa to another.

The challenge was to give familiar furniture a new context, understanding what could be retained, what needed to be reinterpreted and how each piece could find its place within the proportions and character of the new home.

Through careful furniture placement, styling and the introduction of complementary elements, the existing pieces were brought together to create a more cohesive and considered interior. The aim was not to erase what the clients already had, but to build upon it, allowing the home to retain a sense of familiarity while feeling refreshed and intentionally composed.

Proportion and balance became central to the styling, ensuring that furniture, accessories and open space worked together naturally. The restrained approach allowed individual pieces to breathe, while carefully selected details added warmth, texture and personality without overwhelming the spaces.

The move between homes also became an opportunity to reconsider how the existing furniture was experienced. Pieces that had belonged to the previous villa were repositioned and styled in relation to new views, proportions and circulation, giving them a renewed presence within the home.

The result is a minimalist home styling project that demonstrates how a space can be transformed without starting again. By working with what already exists and understanding the relationship between furniture, architecture and everyday living, the home takes on a renewed sense of harmony and individuality.
